Digital Signature warning
If a selected PDF contains a digital signature, PDFSanitize warns that sanitization will change the document and invalidate the signature.
Continue only when creating an unsigned derivative is authorized. Preserve the original signed PDF separately when its signature must remain evidence.
Document Structure warning
In Preserve Quality mode, PDFSanitize warns when selected PDFs contain catalog name trees or tagged PDF structure. These advanced structures may not be preserved completely during structural rewriting, although the warning states that visible page content is not affected by the notice itself.
If accessibility tagging or advanced navigation must be preserved, test the sanitized output carefully or choose a workflow that explicitly accounts for the structural tradeoff.
Maximum Assurance warning
Maximum Assurance warns that every page will be reconstructed from rendered content and that selectable source text, original vector objects, forms, hyperlinks, and digital signatures will not be retained.
Choose No if those characteristics are required in the deliverable.
Page Reconstruction warning
When hidden/off-page text removal in Preserve Quality requires reconstruction, PDFSanitize reports the number of affected pages. Only those pages are reconstructed; other pages retain normal PDF text and vector content.
Encrypted PDFs
Encrypted PDFs are not presented as a confirmation choice because they cannot currently be sanitized. They are skipped during a batch after analysis identifies them.
General rule
A warning is an assurance boundary, not merely a user-interface interruption. If the operator cannot explain why the warned-about tradeoff is acceptable, do not continue until the document owner, security policy, or disclosure authority resolves the question.
