Prerequisites
A Certificate of Sanitization can be generated only when every selected PDF has both:
- A completed sanitization result;
- A completed verification result.
If any selected document is missing either result, PDFSanitize blocks certificate generation.
Generate the certificate
- Select the PDFs that belong to the certification batch.
- Confirm that each has been sanitized and verified.
- Open the Reports tab.
- Select Sanitization Certificate.
- Choose the output PDF path.
- Review the generated certificate and retain it with the associated sanitized files.
The proposed filename uses the form PDFSanitize-Certificate_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.pdf.
Certificate content
The certificate includes a unique document ID and records information such as:
- Windows operator username;
- Report date and PDFSanitize version;
- Machine name, operating system, 64-bit state, CPU, and RAM;
- Sanitization profile and mode;
- Confirmation that verification was completed for all files;
- SHA-256 fingerprints for original and sanitized files;
- Overall batch status;
- Begin and end time;
- Total sanitization duration;
- File count and total input size;
- Verification-check totals;
- Per-file source and output paths;
- Page count;
- Per-file timing and verification status;
- Reconstructed/rasterized-page information;
- Sanitization notices.
Status interpretation
The certificate reports SUCCESS when all selected verification results pass, SUCCESS WITH WARNINGS when there are warnings but no failures, and ERROR when any selected verification result has failed.
Certificate boundary
The Certificate of Sanitization is a record produced by PDFSanitize. It is not, by itself, third-party certification of the operator, organization, legal disclosure decision, or information-security program.
