Overview purpose
The Overview tab presents the selected document’s source identity, analysis status, PDF properties, findings, and current sanitization or verification state in one property/value view.
Use it to decide whether the active sanitization profile is appropriate before processing the document.
Core document properties
Depending on analysis results, the Overview can show:
- File name and full path;
- File size;
- Page count;
- PDF format version;
- Encryption state;
- Digital-signature state;
- Previous revisions;
- Annotation, hyperlink, and embedded-file counts;
- Form, active-script/action, layered-content, name-tree, and tagged-structure state;
- Metadata values;
- Current sanitization and verification status.
After sanitization, the sanitized output path is also shown.
Hidden-text findings
PDFSanitize specifically records words whose text rendering mode is invisible and words whose bounding box is completely outside the visible page boundary. The finding can include the affected page number and region.
This detection does not mean every possible hidden-information technique has been analyzed. Review high-risk documents under an appropriate disclosure policy and use Maximum Assurance where structural minimization is required.
Advanced-structure notices
Catalog name trees and tagged PDF structure are shown because they can be affected by structural rewriting. In Preserve Quality mode, PDFSanitize warns before sanitizing selected documents that contain either structure.
