Understand the PDF List and Selection

Applies to: All editions

PDF list columns

The PDF list shows one row for each unique source path. The principal columns are:

  • Selection checkbox;
  • File;
  • Pages;
  • Size;
  • Findings; and
  • Status.

Page count and finding count are populated after a successful analysis.

Inclusion versus row focus

The checkbox determines whether a PDF is included in batch operations. The currently highlighted row determines which document is shown in the Inspector.

These are separate concepts. A row can be visible in the Inspector without being included in the next batch, and several checked documents can be processed even though only one is currently highlighted.

Select or deselect documents

Use Select All or Deselect All for batch selection. The checkbox in the list header can also change the inclusion state for the list.

Before analysis, sanitization, or report export, confirm the checked set. PDFSanitize requires at least one selected PDF for those operations.

Remove documents from the list

Remove Selected removes highlighted list rows from the current workspace. Clear List removes all documents from the workspace.

Removing an entry from the list does not delete the source PDF, a previously generated sanitized PDF, or an exported report.

Status values

Typical states include:

  • Not analyzed;
  • Analyzing…;
  • Analyzed;
  • Encrypted;
  • Analysis failed;
  • Sanitized;
  • Encrypted – skipped;
  • Sanitization failed.
