PDF processing is local
PDF analysis, rendering, sanitization, verification, and report generation run locally on the Windows computer. The PDF content itself does not need to be uploaded to Probativa or to an online PDF service.
This makes PDFSanitize suitable for workflows where documents must remain on a controlled endpoint or local network share, subject to the organization’s own endpoint and storage policy.
Standard edition
Standard does not require paid-license activation. The application can attempt an executable-integrity lookup when network access is available, but inability to reach the service does not by itself require PDF content to leave the computer.
Pro and Enterprise offline period
Pro and Enterprise require online activation. After a successful validation, PDFSanitize stores protected license information for the current Windows user and device. If the licensing service later becomes unreachable, the cached entitlement can support temporary offline use for up to 14 days.
Plan periodic connectivity so the license can be refreshed before that period expires.
Deactivation on restricted networks
License deactivation also requires access to the licensing service. Before isolating or decommissioning a licensed device, restore the required network path long enough to deactivate the key if it must be transferred.
Operational guidance
For highly restricted environments:
- Validate the license before entering the restricted period;
- Record the date of the last successful validation under the organization’s maintenance process;
- Test sanitization and report export without general Internet access;
- Ensure source and output directories remain available locally; and
- Keep a controlled installer available for recovery without relying on an online download at the point of use.
