Applies to: Pro and Enterprise; Standard operates without paid-license activation
Before activation
Activation requires a valid PDFSanitize Pro or Enterprise product key and network access to the Probativa licensing service. The product key is associated with the local device identity and the applicable product edition.
Activate a license
- Open PDFSanitize.
- Open Help > License.
- Enter the product key in the License tab.
- Select Activate.
- Allow PDFSanitize to contact the licensing service.
- When activation succeeds, restart the application so the edition-specific controls and environment permissions are applied consistently.
PDFSanitize checks the key against Pro and Enterprise product entitlements and activates the matching edition.
Periodic validation
On later starts, PDFSanitize validates a saved paid license. If the licensing service is temporarily unreachable, a protected local cache can allow the previously validated license to remain usable for up to 14 days from the most recent successful cache refresh.
After that offline-validity period, an online validation is required before the paid entitlement can be relied on again.
Common activation failures
Activation can fail when:
- The product key is missing or has an invalid format;
- The licensing service cannot be reached;
- The key does not exist or has been revoked;
- The key belongs to a different product or edition;
- The permitted device-activation count has been reached; or
- The installed software version falls outside the key’s update-entitlement period.
For an activation-limit error, deactivate the key on a device that no longer requires it before retrying activation on the new computer.
