Add individual PDFs
Use Home > Add PDF(s) to select one or more PDF files. The file picker accepts .pdf files and supports multi-selection.
Each unique full file path is added once. Adding the same PDF again does not create a duplicate entry for that path.
Add a folder
Use Home > Add Folder to select a folder containing PDFs. PDFSanitize searches the selected folder and its subfolders recursively for files with the .pdf extension.
Folder discovery is designed to continue past inaccessible subfolders where possible. Directory reparse points, including junctions and symbolic-directory links, are skipped so a folder import does not unexpectedly traverse outside the selected tree or enter a loop.
What is added to the list
A newly added PDF is selected for processing by default and initially shows:
- File name;
- File size;
- Empty page and finding counts until analysis
- Not analyzed status.
PDFSanitize records the full source path internally and displays it in the Overview for the selected document.
Large folder trees
Adding a large folder can take time because the application must enumerate the directory tree and add each unique PDF to the list.
If a folder or part of a folder cannot be read, PDFSanitize records the access problem in the activity log and continues with other accessible locations where possible.
Before processing a batch
After adding documents:
- Review the file names and sizes.
- Remove PDFs that do not belong to the intended job.
- Use the inclusion checkboxes to select only the documents that should be analyzed, sanitized, or reported.
- Analyze the selected set before reviewing sanitization options.
