Choose an export format
- TXT: plain-text record suitable for tickets, archives, and direct review.
- PDF: formatted human-readable record suitable for controlled retention and sharing.
- CSV: tabular data suitable for spreadsheets, asset systems, and data analysis.
- JSON: structured data suitable for automated processing and integration.
Use PDF or TXT for human review and CSV or JSON where downstream systems require structured fields. Retain the original exported file rather than relying only on copied text or screenshots.
Export a device list
Device-list export uses similar formats but records detected inventory rather than completed operations. Label inventory files clearly to prevent confusion with sanitization evidence.
PDF review
After PDF export, verify:
- The file opens without repair warnings;
- Headings, tables, long model names, serial values, and page breaks are readable;
- Every selected device appears;
- No page is missing from the retained copy;
- The filename and repository metadata map to the correct asset or job.
CSV and JSON handling
Structured exports can be modified easily by spreadsheet or scripting tools. Preserve a read-only original, control access, and record any transformation performed before importing the data into another system.
Failed export
An export failure does not change the sanitization result, but it can prevent the required evidence from being retained. Keep DriveErase open, preserve the displayed result, verify the destination permissions and free space, and try an approved alternate location.
