Device-list fields
DriveErase presents one row for each detected physical disk. The principal fields are:
- Target: the physical disk identifier used by the current Windows session;
- Level: an informational device or workflow classification shown by the interface;
- Media: the detected media class, such as HDD, SSD or flash;
- Bus: the connection type, such as SATA, NVMe, SAS, or USB;
- Capacity: the reported device size;
- Model: the model string reported through the storage stack;
- Serial: the available serial or unique identifier;
- Device Path: the Windows physical-drive path.
Identity quality
Storage identity data is supplied through the device, controller, driver, and operating system. Some fields can be blank, generic, truncated, duplicated, or translated by an enclosure. Do not rely on a single weak identifier.
Use the strongest available combination:
- Asset or chassis bay record;
- Manufacturer and model;
- Serial number or unique identifier;
- Capacity;
- Bus and controller path;
- Physical-drive number at the time of confirmation.
Media classification
Media and bus classification guides the available defaults but does not replace operator verification. Examples:
- An SSD behind a USB bridge can be displayed as USB or generic storage;
- A virtual disk can expose generic model and serial information;
- Some devices do not report rotation or protocol properties consistently.
Device inventory exports
Where the active edition provides export controls, the detected device list can be saved in TXT, PDF, CSV, or JSON form. A device-list export is an inventory record only. It does not prove that any device was selected, sanitized, verified, or assessed.
