Purpose
The structured sanitization report consolidates operation context, settings, target records, verification information, and sign-off fields into a formal document. Generate it only from actual completed operation records.
Information included in the report
The report can include:
- Document identifier;
- Generation date and UTC timestamps;
- Operator and Windows user information;
- Application name and version;
- Machine, operating system, processor, and memory information;
- Selected overwrite method and pass count;
- Enabled options;
- Operation status;
- Start, end, and duration;
- File and folder counts;
- Total recorded size;
- Per-item path, size, fingerprint, verification state, timestamps, status, and failure detail;
- Device post-operation records;
- Operator and reviewer sign-off lines;
- Page numbers and document footer.
Generate the report
- Complete the authorized operation.
- Review the raw output and resolve any ambiguity in item status.
- Open the Reports tab.
- Select Certified Report.
- Confirm that the report is based on the current completed session.
- Save it to the approved evidence repository.
- Open the report and inspect every section.
- Complete organizational sign-off outside CertErase as required.
- Link the report to the authorization, asset record, or case.
Certification
The report available for the Enterprise edition includes sign-off fields but does not add a cryptographic digital signature. It becomes an organizational certificate only when digitally signed, using the functionalities available with the Audit edition.
Incomplete or failed sessions
A report can record a failed or cancelled operation. Such a report is evidence of what occurred, not a certificate that the planned scope was sanitized. The final disposition must explicitly identify unresolved targets.
