Available editions
CertErase provides Standard, Pro, Enterprise and Audit license tiers. The active license determines which profiles, controls, reports, and operating environments are available.
Standard profile availability
The Standard edition provides a limited number of overwrite methods in its profile set:
- Peter Gutmann
- Schneier 7-Pass
- Simple 1 Pass Random
Pro, Enterprise and Audit expose the broader profile catalogue. Because many legacy profile names originate from old or media-specific guidance, choose a profile according to current organizational policy rather than assuming that more passes automatically provide a better or standards-compliant result.
Procurement and procedure guidance
Select the edition by required control, not by operator preference:
- Use Standard for basic, manually supervised file erasure where advanced evidence and residual-data controls are not required.
- Use Pro where verification, metadata handling, free-space operations, and PDF logs are required on supported physical Windows workstations.
- Use Enterprise where formal reports, Windows Server, or virtual machines are required.
- Use Audit where digitally signed reports, validation and management are required.
