Install and Start CertErase

Before installation

Confirm the system and edition requirements, close applications that may lock test files, and keep the license key issued for the deployment at hand. Use only a package supplied through an authorized Probativa distribution channel. In managed environments, record the installer version and file hash under the organization’s software-deployment process.

Install CertErase

  1. Sign in with an account authorized to install the application under local policy.
  2. Run the CertErase installation package.
  3. Review the license terms presented by the installer or first-run experience.
  4. Complete installation using the approved destination and deployment settings.
  5. Start CertErase from the installed application shortcut.

First launch

On first launch, enter the license key exactly as issued. The expected key format consists of groups of alphanumeric characters separated by hyphens.

After successful activation, CertErase stores a protected local license cache for the current Windows user. The cache is tied to the local device identity and user context. Copying the cache to another device or user profile is not a supported transfer method.

Initial configuration check

Before processing real data:

  1. Open CertErase and confirm the product version shown in the About information.
  2. Confirm the active edition.
  3. Review the selected erasure method.
  4. Review every advanced option; do not assume settings from a previous workstation.
  5. Add a disposable test file.
  6. Run a test erasure.
  7. Confirm that the operation status, output log, and any exported report match the expected procedure.

The reviewed default configuration selects a single-pass profile and leaves advanced options disabled. Production deployments should define approved defaults intentionally rather than relying on installation defaults.

Uninstalling or replacing a device

Deactivate the license before permanently removing CertErase or decommissioning the workstation when the license must be reused elsewhere. Uninstalling the application alone should not be treated as a valid license transfer.
