Removing hidden metadata is only part of preparing a photograph for sharing. Personal or confidential information may also be visible in the picture itself, whether it is a person’s face, a vehicle’s license plate, a document, or details displayed on a computer screen.
PhotoSanitize includes a Visual Privacy workspace where you can inspect images and permanently conceal selected areas. Manual redaction is available in every edition. Pro and Enterprise also provide automatic detection of faces, license plates, visible text, QR codes, and barcodes.
Understanding Visual Privacy and Automatic Detection introduces the available detection tools and explains how to interpret their findings. Add and Edit Manual Redactions describes selecting and adjusting areas of an image, while Review Detections and Confirm Redactions explains how to decide which findings should be concealed and complete the review process.
Automatic detection can make examination faster, especially when working with many photographs, but it cannot determine whether every visible detail is sensitive. The final sanitized image should always be inspected before distribution.
This is particularly important for photographs involving customers, employees, private property, confidential workplaces, or other environments where an unintended disclosure could affect someone beyond the person preparing the image.
