Use PhotoSanitize Offline or on Restricted Networks

PhotoSanitize processes photographs locally, but certain licensing operations require access to Probativa’s online services. Whether you can work without an internet connection depends on the edition and the state of its license.

This distinction is useful when preparing photographs on a personal computer without regular connectivity or deploying the application on organization-managed systems with restricted outbound access.

Standard edition

PhotoSanitize Standard does not require a paid activation to use its available image-processing features. You can inspect, sanitize, manually redact, and verify supported images without uploading them or maintaining a continuous internet connection.

The normal Windows requirements still apply. The computer needs access to its source files, output directories, and any local image codecs necessary for the selected operation.

Pro and Enterprise

Pro and Enterprise require an internet connection for initial activation and periodic license validation. After a successful online validation, a paid license can continue operating offline for up to 14 days, provided the locally stored validation remains eligible.

This grace period is intended to accommodate temporary connectivity interruptions, not to provide a permanent offline licensing arrangement. If the installation cannot revalidate after the permitted period, paid features may become unavailable until a successful validation is completed.

If you know that a licensed computer will be disconnected from the network, validate the license while connectivity is available. For an installation that must remain isolated longer than the allowed period, do not assume that a one-time activation will be sufficient.

Restricted business networks

Organizations using outbound firewalls, proxy servers, or controlled network segments should permit the required licensing communication with https://licensing.probativa.com.

The network requirement concerns activation and validation rather than remote processing of photographs. Source images, decoded pixels, and visual detection work do not need to be uploaded to the licensing service.

When preparing an organizational deployment, test activation using the same network configuration that the application will encounter after installation. A successful activation performed on an unrestricted test computer does not guarantee that another workstation behind a different firewall will also be able to validate its license.

Image provenance and remote references

Some images contain C2PA Content Credentials that refer to information stored remotely. PhotoSanitize performs its supported local provenance inspection without downloading remote manifests. If a manifest needed for complete validation is not embedded, the result may indicate that the remote information was not fetched.

This is separate from both image sanitization and license validation.

For sensitive organizational material, local processing can fit well into existing access-control and storage policies. However, you should still keep originals and sanitized outputs in appropriate locations and make sure that reports, filenames, and exported records are handled according to their sensitivity.
